Creating connection in a hybrid environment
At the start of the pandemic, all of us were Googling how to get a fancy office background so that people couldn’t see our real life.
I no longer do that.
I did some training with a local sales guy named John Barrows. During that sales training, right away one of the sales reps asked him about something on his back wall. John explained to us that it's a conversation starter.
If somebody asks him about it, that tends to tell him a little bit about the type of person he’s dealing with and what might resonate with them.
Whereas if they don't ask about it at all, it might be a little tougher to crack through the level of personalization we're looking for as sellers.
It's not uncommon for us on our team to share what else is going on in our lives, whether it's kids or dogs, because we're not always connected in an office so finding new ways to create connections is more important than ever.
