“All of the programs I've taken are incredibly valuable.”

We caught up with Andrea Mulcahy, Enablement Lead at FreeWill, to discuss her experience as a Sales Enablement Collective Pro+ member.

Andrea is a sales enablement professional with a background in instructional design and training and has 20+ years of experience in the telecoms industry.

She discussed:

Discovering SEC

When Andrea moved from an instructional design and training background to sales enablement, she started searching for resources to increase her knowledge in other areas of enablement.

This is when she stumbled upon Sales Enablement Collective, and she hasn’t looked back!

In her own words:

“At my last company, I always worked in learning and development. I was first a trainer and then an instructional designer.

“So, when I moved to my current company as an enablement person, I wanted to learn more about enablement. In particular, I wanted to learn what else there was to it, besides just the training component.

“I started doing a lot of research to do some reading, and that's how I came across SEC.”

Becoming a Pro member

Andrea was drawn to the paid membership by two key things: the courses and additional resources.

“The ability to take the courses was definitely very important to me, especially the Sales Enablement: Core certification.

“Then the additional resources that are available to paid members, such as the templates were the main two items that got me wanting to become a member.”

Leveling up from Pro to Pro+

After exploring SEC’s resources, Andrea “liked a lot of what I found, so I initially joined as a Pro member, because that's what my company covered.”

“But then I wanted to attend a conference, and it made more sense to upgrade to Pro+. So, that's how I became a Pro+ member.”

“The Sales Enablement Summit I attended was fantastic!”

The best resources of Pro+

Out of all the resources available to our Pro+ members, Andrea has made the most use of our courses – completing three just this year! 👏

Here’s what she had to say about them:

“All of the programs I've taken are incredibly valuable.

“The Sales Enablement: Core certification was a great foundation for me. I learned things I hadn't known before.

“I also completed the Onboarding Masters and the Sales Kickoff Masters programs because those are two huge projects I'm working on currently: revamping our sales onboarding for our account executives, and taking over our sales kickoff for next year.

“Those were a huge help in providing me with resources and knowledge about what and how to do things. It's always good to have new resources and information available.

“Even though onboarding was not new to me, I still picked up a lot of good tips and feedback on how to organize the sales onboarding process to make it most effective and ramp our reps quicker from the course. As well as ideas for onboarding resources and activities.”

How Pro+ helped Andrea overcome an enablement challenge

As Andrea mentioned, she convinced her boss to let her take over the SKO at her organization to improve its performance – which all enablers know is no easy feat.

Here’s how Andrea’s Pro+ membership and SEC’s Sales Kickoff Masters certification helped her tackle this challenge:

“I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but I've never done anything like that before, so SEC’s Sales Kickoff course was such a huge help

“It helped me to decide what workshops I should have, what speakers I should have, and how I should set the agenda. Plus, insights into which follow-up activities to run.

“It really helped me create a clear roadmap of what I needed to do to build out this SKO.”

The value of community in sales enablement

Andrea admits she’s not as active in the Sales Enablement Collective Slack community as she’d like to be but when she does check the community…

“When I have gone to the Slack community it's been great to source information from others who are in the same situation professionally.”

“Just before this call, I checked the Slack channels – something I do when I can – and a question caught my eye. As I read through the comments, I found myself thinking, ‘Wow, I hadn't thought about that before.’

“There's always something new and fresh to learn or a different perspective to consider.

“I’m on a small team of three, so it's really valuable to have an outside community talk to, listen to, and learn from.”

Andrea’s experience at Sales Enablement Summit, Atlanta

But that’s not the only networking Andrea’s been part of, she also attended the Sales Enablement Summit in Atlanta. Here’s how that experience benefited her career:

“Going to the summit was amazing!

“My boss went to a different version of the conference; I attended one in Atlanta, and he went to one in Seattle

“Next year we’re planning to attend together, at the same location, because we both got so much out of the conference.

“The sessions offered were fantastic. Despite both having long careers in training, development, and enablement, it's always so good to get new perspectives and fresh ideas

“In particular, AI has been a huge thing for my company this year, and that was one of the big things we both got out of our separate conferences: how to utilize AI.

“This gave us better ideas for using AI to streamline some of the work for the salespeople and make things easier.

“Plus, the networking was incredible. I still reach out to the contacts I made, bouncing ideas off each other and sharing what we're working on.”

Considering Pro+? Here’s Andrea’s perspective

“The membership may seem expensive but it’s totally worth the costespecially if you put in the time to utilize the resources.

“My company’s L&D budget only covers half the cost of the Pro+ membership but I'm still renewing my Pro+ membership again next year because there is just so much value.

“It's worth the out-of-pocket expense to attend the conferences, have access to sales enablement certifications, excellent resources, and the community.

The ROI is fantastic.

“If you have the time to take advantage of the resources, it’s definitely worth the investment. I like to block off half an hour every day for SEC coursework – I don't always get to it but it's always on my calendar, so I have the reminder.

“This year, I've gone through three programs, which has been great.”

Andrea’s takeaway? “The Pro+ resources are fantastic, and the community is amazing.”
